what did the KDF do?

A
  • strength through joy scheme
  • aimed to give opportunities to working class people for leisure activities usually reserved for the middle classes eg sports facilities or holidays
  • relatively popular, and some groups (eg 28,500 workers from Siemens in Berlin) able to take a holiday but were still too expensive for some
  • smaller incentives (eg free theatre tickets/subsidized day trips) much more common.
