what did the DAF control?
A
workers’ rights and working conditions eg hours of work, rate of pay, striked were illegal, people needed permission to quit their jobs

A
- beauty of labour scheme
- campaigned for improved cleanliness, better hygiene, proper work attire, changing rooms, lockers, better air, less noise in factories, installed new washrooms, better lighting and safety equipment, sports facilities

- gvt could stimulate productivity in the workplace and instil a sense of community and greater cordiality between the gvt and the German population

what did the KDF do?
A
- strength through joy scheme
- aimed to give opportunities to working class people for leisure activities usually reserved for the middle classes eg sports facilities or holidays
- relatively popular, and some groups (eg 28,500 workers from Siemens in Berlin) able to take a holiday but were still too expensive for some
- smaller incentives (eg free theatre tickets/subsidized day trips) much more common.
