Emotions are largely a conscious phenomena which involves more bodily manifestations than other conscious states.

State and expand on the various components of emotions
1)Cognitive Appraisal : A personal assessment of the personal meaning of one’s current circumstances
2)Subjective experience : Feelings serve as feedback/thought to guide behavior, decision making, and information processing
3)Thought- Actions tendencies : Refers to the connection between the emotion aroused and then respective urges that rise to the emotion experienced
4)Internal Bodily changes : following the emotional arousal involve changes in the activity of the visceral motor (autonomic) system.
5)Facial Expressions : refers to the manifestation of emotions outwardly using face to reflect the emotion experienced
6)Responses to emotions : it refers to behavioral responses to the experience of an emotion, where sociocultural factors influence the interpretation and reaction to an emotion

Difference between Mood and Emotion
Emotions have the following characteristics:
-Clear cause
-Brief period of time
-Multi-component
-Fit into discreet categories
Whereas Mood have the following characteristics:
-Free floating, unknown reason
-Longer duration
-Subjective experience
-Conceptualized as varying along the dimensions of pleasantness and excitement
Write a note on genders and emotions
The difference are as follows:
-Women are more expressive than men are.
-Males autonomic nervous system is more
reactive than females.
-Men are more likely to rehearse angry
thoughts which maintains anger.
-Women are more likely to ruminate which
maintains depression
-Women work hard at appearing warm,
happy and making sure others are happy.
-Men work hard at persuading others they
are stern, aggressive and unemotional
Describe the Culture and Emotions
Categorization of emotions and the behavior or process of expressing and the principles that govern the expression of one’s emotions. There has been a significant importance of facial expressions to convey different emotions based on various situations.
Three predictive indicators of happiness which are :
-Social relationships
-Employment
-Physical health
Brief note on National Happiness scale
It is defined as an index which is used to measure the collective happiness and well-being of a population, the scores range from 1(not at all happy) up till the highest score of 4(very happy)
What are the rules of Emotional regulation
there are three major rules of emotional regulation:
- Display rules : When, where and how emotions are to be expressed or squelched
-Body Language : The non verbal means of expression that include various aspects of one’s body
-Emotional work/labour : Action out an emotion we do not feel or trying to create the right emotion for the occasion
Brief note on Emotional Intelligence and it’s components
It is an ability to recognize the meanings of emotion and their relationships, and to reason and problem-solve on the basis of them.
Self Awareness - Ability to understand what you are feeling including Understanding your emotional responses, affects your behavior and performance, Knowing one’s strengths and limits and a strong sense of one’s self-worth and capacities
Self Management -Ability to stay focused and think clearly even when experiencing strong/powerful emotions to avoid hasty decisions while managing ones own emotional state to improve the ability of emotions to move and guide you towards your goal.
Taking responsibility for actions, maintaining standards of honesty and integrity to persevere in the face of obstacles and setbacks
Social Awareness - Ability to understand and respond to what other people are feeling to include various perspectives and taking an active interest in their concerns.
Sensing others’ development needs and encouraging their abilities and cultivating opportunities through different kinds of people.
Reading a group’s emotional currents and power relationships
Relationship Management - Ability to develop and Influence others by listening openly and sending convincing messages, to negotiating and resolving disagreements
Inspiring and guiding individuals and groups
for initiating or managing change while nurturing instrumental relationships to create group synergy in pursuing collective goals
