Doing and making. A fourth sense of ‘process’ characterizes the work that clients and therapists
do together. Therapy is viewed as similar to a manufacturing process, in which raw materials
are transformed into finished, usable products. For instance, the emotional processing model
employed by Greenberg et al. (1993) involves ‘doing things’ to and with emotions: naming
them, expressing them, reflecting on their meaning
