Q

What is the procedure for a rough running engine?

A

Fuel pump on
Switch fuel tanks
Check engine instruments
Check throttle

Q

What is the procedure for low oil pressure warnings?

A

Check the oil temperature
*If oil is in the green, continue to monitor as it may be a pressure sensor malfunction
*If oil temperature & cylinder head temp is rising, reduce engine power to minimum and prepare for a forced approach AND/OR shut off engine immediately and execute a forced approach

Q

What is the procedure for high oil pressure warnings?

A

Check oil temperature
*If oil temperature is normal, continue to monitor as it may be a pressure sensor malfunction
* Check cylinder head temperature and exhaust gas temperature levels. If neither one is high, continue to monitor as it may be a pressure sensor malfunction
*If cylinder head and exhaust gas temperatures are both high, check oil pressure. If oil pressure is low, follow the low oil pressure procedure. If oil pressure is normal, enrich the mixture and reduce power

Q

What is the procedure for high cylinder head temperatures?

A

Check the mixture setting, and enrichen mixture if necessary
Check oil temperature
*If oil temperature is also high, then check oil pressure
*If oil pressure is low, follow the low oil pressure procedure
* If oil pressure is normal, reduce power and land ASAP

Q

What is the procedure for High RPM?

A

Check throttle friction
Check oil pressure
*If there is a loss of oil pressure, the propeller governor will set a high RPM. Regulate the RPM with the throttle and follow the steps for loss of oil pressure
* If oil pressure is normal, pull the RPM lever back and listen for an associated drop in RPM. If the tach does not change in spite of an audible drop in RPM, service the aircraft. If there is no audible drop in RPM, regulate the RPM with throttle and understand you have a defective governor system.

Q

What is the procedure for a Loss of RPM

A

Fuel pump on
Check fuel selector
Check throttle friction
Propeller lever full forward and listen for a rise in RPM
*If there is no audible rise in RPM, it is probable that the governor system is defective. Regulate the RPM with the throttle and land at the nearest appropriate airfield, be prepared for an emergency landing
*If the indication does not change in spite of an audible rise in RPM, it is probable that the RPM indication is defective, and service the aircraft

Q

What is the procedure for an Engine Fire During Takeoff?

A

If takeoff can still be abandoned:
Throttle to idle
Cabin heat off
Apply brakes
Follow engine fire when starting procedure

If takeoff can not be abandoned:
Cabin heat off
If altitude permits, land on the airfield

Q

What is the procedure for an Electrical Fire?

A

Master switch off
Cabin heat off
Emergency windows open if required
Emergency switch on if necessary
Land at appropriate airfield ASAP

17
Q

What is the procedure for Landing With a Defective Main Tire?

A

Advise ATC
Land on the same side of the runway as the good tire
Land with the wing low on the same side as the good tire
Maintain directional control with the rudder and brakes

18
Q

What is the procedure for Landing With Defective Brakes

A

Land on the longest runway
If sufficient time remaining:
Fuel selector off
Mixture to idle cut-off
Ignition switch off
Master switch off

19
Q

What is the procedure for an Alternator Failure?

A

Check circuit breakers; if breakers are okay, proceed to next steps
All unnecessary electrical equipment off
Essential Bus switch on
Emergency switch on as necessary
Check voltmeter regularly

If over-voltage above 32 volts
Essential Bus on
Master switch alternator side off
Unnecessary equipment off
Land at nearest airfield

20
Q

What is the procedure for Flap System Failures?

A

Check the flap position visually
Keep airspeed in the white arc
Re-check the flap switch
