What does the anagram stand for?
- D = danger - assess the area
- R = response - getting close and closer to the patient, she if they are responding to what you are say. Lightly shake them
- S = shout - get help from someone walking by
- A = airways - open the airways, check for any obstructions to the airways
- B = breathing – check for breathing by looking, listening and feeling for normal breathing fro
10 seconds - C = circulation – when checking for breathing, look for signs of life like movement, colour and groaning
When do you put someone in the recovery position?
When someone is unconscious and breathing, and have no other life-threatening conditions
What does the recovery position do?
Keeps the patients airways open, will allow vomit and liquid to pass through easily
What causes someone to collapse?
Brain being deprived of oxygen
What is collapsing?
The temporary loss of consciousness
How deep should a compression be?
5 to 6cm
