- Entering the water to make an active/distressed rescue
- Land injury - first aid needed, bee sting, minor slip & fall

What are 3 reasons to perform a THREE HORN BLAST?
- Entering the water to make a passive/submerged rescue
- Entering the water for a spinal rescue
- Land emergency - spinal or head trauma
What are some reasons why you should CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY?
Three horn blast is made
Drowning
Near Drowning
Spinal Injury
Head Trauma
Cardiac Arrest or Heart Attack
Respiratory Arrest (ex: not breathing, blue/gray skin, unconscious )
Stroke and Seizures
Severe Bleeding
Open Fractures (when bone breaks through the skin)
Choking if person becomes unconscious
Overdose AND if RSRPD Staff administer Narcan (located in trauma bag).
Poisoning
Anaphylaxis
What are some reasons why you should WAIT AND SEE before calling 911?
Diabetic Emergencies (if you have given glucose tablet or they self administered insulin and no improvement or altered mental status)
Respiratory Distress (ex: asthma attack and used their inhaler)
Potential fracture (no protrusions or bleeding)
Choking (if object is dislodged and person does not lose LOC)
Obstetrical Emergencies (call immediately if labor is imminent and contractions are < 3 min)
What is Rancho Simi Community Pool’s procedure for when to call 911?
Our procedure is to call 911 for the emergencies listed in Rancho Simi Community Pool’s EAP Procedure. A person can REFUSE CARE once EMS/Fire has arrived.
