What is CAS?
Crew Alerting System Annunciations - Emergency or Abnormal situations are displayed in abbreviated text and are colored based on the alert level. The pilot will see these annunciations displayed on the right side of the PFD
Each CAS annunciation is associated with an electronic checklist on the MFD.
What are the CAS alert levels
- Red - Warning
- Caution - Yellow
- White - Advisory
What is a CAS “warning” alert and what do you do?
Displayed in Red, these Warning alerts arise during emergency situations that require immediate awareness and response
A flashing warning CAS message with an accompanying aural alert requires immediate action
A Warning CAS message without an aural alert requires attention dependent on workload. Warnings with no aural alert typically occur while on ground.
What is a CAS “Caution” alert and what do you do?
Dislayed in yellow, Caution CAS messages arise during situations that require immediate awareness and subsequent response
A flashing Caution message with an accompanying aural alert requires more timely response
A flashing Caution message with no aural alert requires response dependent on workload
A non flashing Caution CAS message with no aural alert requires attention dependent on workload. It may also require performing maintenance
What is a CAS “Advisory” alert and what do you do?
Advisories are displayed in white and arise during situations that require awareness that may require subsequent response
