Knowledge point one - A. Philip Randolph
A. Philip Randolph was the first black leader to increase black confidence, militancy and black opportunities by helping end discrimination within trade unions.
Analysis point one
Randolph was able to motivate blacks to join the civil rights movement as a result of his success of improving Black opportunities
Knowledge point two - Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks sat on a whites only seat in Alabama and refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white American igniting the Montgomery bus boycott which led to the desegregation of buses.
Analysis point two
Her non deliberate actions proved that anyone could spark a growth for the CRM. If an ordinary woman could make a stand and achieve success then anyone could do people joined the movement so they could make a change.
Limitations
Rosa Parks was not the first to make a protest she was merely a catalyst for the campaign rather than an inspirational leader and A. Philip Randolph actions went largely unnoticed till this point.
Evaluation
- both were ordinary people
- succeeded in making change and encouraged others they could do the same
- bus boycott lasted 381 day severely damaging bus company’s profits
- before WWII people were to frightened
- the war proved blacks were worthy as any other person
- the sense of self worth motivated blacks to follow iconic people
