1st Arch Bone Derivatives
Pharyngeal arch syndrome: occasionally the cartilages and other derivatives that degrade under normal developmental patterns fail, resulting in congenital abnormalities of the eyes, ears, mandible and palate, generally due to insufficient migration of neural crest cells into the arches during the 4th week
Teacher-Collins syndrome: underdevelopment of the zygomatic bones including abnormalities to the external middle and inner ear.
Pierre Robin sequence: general disorder including under development of the mandible, cleft palate, and defects of the eye and ear.
Birth defects in arch arteries
Any number of abnormalities can develop from deviant migration or degradation of the arch arteries.
