Septic thrombosis of cavernous sinus: Usually result from infections in orbit, paranasal sinuses or face. May affect abductees nerve as it traverses cavernous sinus as well as nerves embedded in its lateral wall (CN III, IV, V, and V2).

Cerebrovascular accidents (strokes): Acute disruption of normal blood flow of brain resulting in death of brain cells. Most common neurological disorders affecting adults in U.S. The cardinal feature of a stroke is the sudden onset of neurological symptoms (symptoms vary depending on location of stroke). There are two main types of strokes: ischemic (Impaired cerebral blood flow) and hemorrhagic (bleeding).
