EMATH REVIEWER (PROVING TRIANGLES CONGRUENCE) Flashcards
Two geometric figures with
exactly the same size and
shape.
Congruence
What are the 5 postulates to prove the congruence between two triangles?
1). SSS
2). SAS
3). ASA
4). AAS
5). HL
If the three sides of one triangle are congruent to the three
sides of a second triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Side-Side-Side (SSS)
The angle between two sides
Included Angle
If two sides and the included angle of one triangle are
congruent to the two sides and the included angle of another
triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Side-Angle-Side (SAS)
The side between two angles.
Included Side
If two angles and the included side of one triangle are
congruent to the two angles and the included side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Angle-Side-Angle (ASA)
If two angles and a non-included side of one triangle are congruent to the corresponding angles and non-included side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Angle-Angle-Side (AAS)
If the hypotenuse and a leg of a right triangle are congruent
to the hypotenuse and a leg of another right triangle, then the
triangles are congruent.
Hypotenuse-Leg (HL)
When two triangles touch, there may be additional congruent parts. Name them.
1). Vertical Angles
2). Reflexive Side
3). Reflexive Angle
Side shared by two triangles.
Reflexive Side
Angle shared by two triangles.
