Q

Voltage

A

Electrical force that makes electricity move through a wire. Voltage moves the free electrons from one atom to another.

Q

Amp

A

Amperage measurement of the flow rate of electrons moving through a wire An amp to a wire is like the flow rate of water in a hose

Q

Alternating current (AC)

A

The AC electrical system uses two different voltages 115v single phase and 200v three phase.

12
Q

A/C Current

A

Voltage and current periodically reverse direction. Easily regulated for the sensitive avionics installed. The higher the voltage with less amps means the smaller the wire can be to do the same amount of work. Reduces aircraft weight.

16
Q

Main Generator Locations

A

Each of the two main generators is mounted on and driven by the #1 and #2 main transmission accessory gear box modules.

17
Q

Main generator capabilities

A

providing all AC power for the aircraft if the other generator should fail except the blade de-ice system

18
Q

APU Generator Location

A

Second priority The APU generator is mounted directly to the output drive of the APU and is air cooled.

19
Q

APU Generator Purpose

A

(1.) AC power for ground operation. (2.) Back-up emergency AC power in flight.

20
Q

Converter

A

turns AC to DC energy

21
Q

Generator Control Unit (GCU) purpose

A

Under voltage protection Feeder fault Over voltage protection Under frequency protection Voltage Regulation

22
Q

Sealed Lead Acid Battery (SLAB)

A

Secondary or emergency source of DC power.
