ELO H Electrical Systems Flashcards
AC voltages
115 and 200
Generators on helicopter
APU
#1 generator
#2 generator
Electricity
Energy made available by the flow of an electric charge through a conductor
Voltage
Electrical force that makes electricity move through a wire. Voltage moves the free electrons from one atom to another.
Volts
Voltage measured between two points and recorded
Amperage
Flow of electricity through a given wire
Amp
Amperage measurement of the flow rate of electrons moving through a wire An amp to a wire is like the flow rate of water in a hose
Resistance
The amount of constriction put on the amperage as it flows.
Ohms
Unit of measurement for resistance
Alternating current (AC)
The AC electrical system uses two different voltages 115v single phase and 200v three phase.
Direct Current (DC)
Provides constant unidirectional voltage or current to a component. Not common
A/C Current
Voltage and current periodically reverse direction. Easily regulated for the sensitive avionics installed. The higher the voltage with less amps means the smaller the wire can be to do the same amount of work. Reduces aircraft weight.
Primary source of power
AC
Prime source of an AC electrical systems
a 115/200 Volts Alternating Current (VAC) main generator
Three generators
