What were the popular (cruel) forms of entertainment?
Bear baiting-bears were chained to stakes and dogs were released. Bull baiting-bulls were attached to a stake in the middle and chased bulldogs. Cockfighting-birds would fight, sometimes as many as 20, and fought until only 1 bird was left.
What were popular mens entertainment?
Hunting-Deear hunting was popular among the rich and nobles had their own dear parks. Men over 24 were expected to practice archery on Sunday’s, using longbows and crossbows.
What other types of entertainment was popular?
Dancing-A dance called the Volta was common and many found it disgusting, however the Queen liked it. Music and Singing-Lots of people could play instruments like the recorder.
What sports were popular with the rich?
Hunting, archery, music, singing, hawking and ball games like tennis and bowles.

Football, which was rough and had no pitch or goals, dancing, sometimes archery and bowles
What were the early form of theatre?
In 1558 there were no theatres but during her reign an early form was strolling players. They toured the country, performing in courtyards. However, they were banned they spread disease.

How were the theatres designed?
They had galleries for the rich and the poor stood as they were very cheap. The canopy symbolised heaven and there was a trapdoor which represented hell.
What were the attitudes towards the theatre?
The Queen loved the theatre, it had gripping storylines and it was used as propoganda. However they had a large population and gatherings promoted spread of disease, pickpockets and beggars.
