A

There were recusancy fines for Catholics who did not attend protestant services. They could be fined or have property taken of them. However, the rich could afford this so they did not conform. It was also illegal to own any Catholic items.

What led to the Northern rebellion?

A

Elizabeth refused to allow the Duke of Northfolk to marry her cousin Mary. This led to two northern catholic nobles to rebel and try to replace Mary with Elizabeth. The earl of Sussex raised an army and Northfolk was imprisoned.

A
