Electromagnetism Flashcards
Define a magnetic field.
A region of space in which a magnetic material, a current carrying conductor or a moving charge located in it may experience a force.
Define magnetic flux density.
The magnetic flux density is defined as force per unit length per unit current along a long straight current-carrying conductor placed perpendicular to a magnetic field.
What is the formula of the magnetic force on a current carrying conductor?
F = BIL sin θ,
where θ is the angle subtended by the parallel component of current and the B field.
What is the formula of the magnetic force on a moving charge?
F = Bqv sin θ,
where θ is the angle subtended by the parallel component of velocity and the B field.
