What does 11-cus retinal turn into?
A
Rhodopsin

What happens to rhodopsin in vision?
A
It absorbs a photon that matches the HOMO LUMO gap, the pi bind breaks and it goes to an excited state, the cis bond rotates to a more stable form, it then relaxes to the trans form of rhodopsin

What happens to the trans version of rhodopsin in vision?
A
It drops the opsin off and becomes 11-trans, then it reverts back to 11-cis
