Q

Resistance?

A

Resistance is a measure of how much a component decreases the current. The bigger the resistance, the smaller the current.

Equation for power…

A

Power= Current X voltage

P=IV

18
Q

Equation for voltage…

A

Voltage=current X resistance

V=IR

19
Q

Why do materials get hot?

A

Electrons moving, jumping into atoms, releasing energy as heat

20
Q

How does a fuse wire working?

A

The wire melts if too much current flows through, so that it breaks the circuit and avoids overheating and creating a fire.

21
Q

Energy given to each electron…

22
Q

Flow of electrons…

23
Q

Which circuit will keep two bulb brighter and why?

A

Parallel circuit because in a series the current flows through both bulbs which both act as resistors and slow the electrons, where as in a parallel circuit the current breaks off onto branches and so there is only one resistor for the electrons.

24
Q

How does voltage change between parallel and series?

A

The voltage in a parallel circuit is higher in volts than a series circuit.

25
The current in a series circuit is...
The same throughout
26
The current in a parallel circuit...
Splits between bulbs
27
Explain how static electricity is created by the removal or addition of electric charge. Balloon and hair rubbing?
In the example of rubbing a balloon against your hair, the hair takes away the electrons from the balloon, the balloon then becomes positively charged and the hair negatively charged.
