Electricity Flashcards
Static Electricity
The accumulation of excess electric charge on an object
Law of Conservation of Change
When charge can be transformed from object to object.
Conductor
A material of which electrons can move easily.
Insulator
A material of which electrons cannot move easily.
Charging by contact
The process of transferring charge by touching or rubbing.
Charging by Induction
The rearrangement of electrons on a neutral object caused by a nearby charged object.
Electric Current
The net movement of electric charges in a single direction.
Voltage Difference
Related to the force that causes electric charges to flow.
Circuit
A closed path that electric Current follows.
Resisntance
The tendency for a material to oppose the flow of electrons.
Ohm’s Law
The current in a circuit equals the voltage Difference divided by resistance.
Series Circuit
The current only has one loop to flow through.
Parallel Circuit
This contains two or more branches for current to move through.
Electric Power
The rate at which energy is converted to another form of energy.
Wet-Cell-Battery
Contains two connected plates made of different metals or metallic compounds in a conducting solution.
