Electricity Flashcards
What are electric current caused by?
Caused by a flow of electrons.
How do you calculate charge?
Q=I*T
What is charge?
is a physical quantity,which can be either positive or negative.
What is potential difference and state the unit?
is the driving force that causes charge to flow round the circuit.The unit for PD is volts.
What is resistance and state the unit?
is the property of any component of a circuit that shows the flow of current.The unit for resistance is ohms.
What are series circuits?
Circuits where the components are connected in line,end to end between the positive and negative terminals of the power supply.
What are parallel circuits?
Where the components are each connected separately to the positive and negative terminals of the power supply.
In parallel and series circuits which of these has the same potential difference and which of them does not?
In parallel circuits the p.d. across each route is the same whereas the total potential difference of the supply is shared between the components and the current through each component is the same.
