Electrical Flashcards
What is a bus?
A heavy-duty conductor usually a copper bar that distributes electricity to several circuits.
What is the difference between a Current Limiter and a CircuitBreaker?
Current Limiters are one time use and must be replaced. A Circuit
Breaker can be reset and used again, once the fault is corrected.
What is a generator?
A device used to converter mechanical energy to electrical energy
What is the primary source of AC power?
The NO. 1 and NO. 2 main generators.
How are main generators different from the APU generator?
Main gens are liquid cooled vs air cooled.
What components converts 115 VAC to 26 VAC?
The Auto-Transformers.
What is the order of power priority?
-Both, NO. 1 or NO. 2 Main Generators
- APU Generator
- External Power.
Primary DC power is obtained from?
The NO. 1 and NO. 2 Converters.
Are the converters “redundant”?
Yes, one DC converter can power the entire DC system.
If both converters would fail which buses would be lost?
Both the NO.1 and NO. 2 DC Primary buses.
Approximately how long will the batteries last as the sole source of DC power?
Generally, 15 minutes
How many generators are required during blade deice operations?
Two.
What has priority over windshield anti-ice when APU GEN is sole source of power.
Backup Hydraulic Pump.
