Electric Flashcards
Whats is Current and Whats the symbol?
Current is electrons that flow through an electrical conductor. The symbol is A for Amperes.
What is Volts and Whats the symbol?
Volt is what powers the current and makes it more powerful. The symbol is V
What is resistance and whats the symbol?
Resistance is a measurement that reduces the number of electrons going through the circuit. The symbol is Ω
What is the Ohms law triangle
The ohms law triangle is a diagram showing the relationship of Current, volts and resistance
Describe the Ohms law triangle
the triangle is separated into 3 separate parts. two at the bottom one at the top is V for volts and the bottom two is A for current and R for resistance.
Formulas for the Ohms law
R=V/A, A=V/R, V= A×R

Process of electrical energy transferred to your house?
Power station - substation - power lines - wall socket
Factors needed to create fossil
Time, heat and pressure
Steps of energy being created?
Water is boiled and coal is burned to create steam, steam causes the turbine to rotate and the turbine spins the generator and the rotation energy turns into electricity
What is renewable energy? Does it harm the environment? Provide an example.
Renewable energy is a source of energy that is produced using the environment. This source of energy does not harm the environment. Solar panels using energy from the sun.
What is non-renewable? Does it harm the environment? Provide an example.
Non-Renewable energy is a source of energy that is produced from the environment. This source of energy harms the environment because it creates pollution and it is cannot be renewed. Fossil fuels such as coal.
What is a parallel circuit?
A parallel circuit is a circuit that allows the current to travel in different paths but they always end up at the same place.
What is a series circuit?
A series circuit is a circuit that allows current to travel in one way.
Why is the parallel circuit used more?
The parallel circuit is used more because electricity has different paths to flow through in a circuit. This means that if one light bulb goes out energy will still be able to flow through other bulbs.
Why is the series circuit not used as much?
The series circuit is not used as much because the current only flows in one direction. Meaning the whole circuit will stop flowing if one light bulb blows causing the following light bulbs to not be able to light up.
