Conduction Convection and radiation Flashcards
What is convection?
Convection is the flow of particles basing on the heat of the particle.
How does the flow of convection work?
The hotter particle rises and the cold particles sink to the bottom.
Why does convection work?
Convection works because colder particles tend to be dense than hot particles causing the hot particles to rise and the cold particles to sink.
What is conduction?
Conduction is the transfer of heat through the particles in both objects passing on vibrations t other particles which cause the the object that is colder to heat up
When does conduction stop?
Conduction stops when both objects are at the same temperature.
What is radiation?
Radiation is the transfer of energy using electromagnetic waves.
How does radiation work?
Radiation indirectly transfers electromagnetic waves to heat things up such as a microwave.
