Q

Why is the elbow joint Valgus?

A

In the context of the elbow, a valgus deformity indicates an abnormal outward angulation of the forearm in relation to the upper arm.

Q

What are the collateral Ligaments of the Elbow Joint?

A

The collateral ligaments of the elbow joint are strong triangular bands that are medial and lateral thickenings of the fibrous layer of the joint capsule.

The lateral, fan-like radial collateral ligament extends from the lateral epicondyle of the humerus and blends distally with the anular ligament of the radius This ligament encircles and holds the head of the radius in the radial notch of the ulna, forming the proximal radioulnar joint and permitting pronation and supination of the forearm.

The medial, triangular ulnar collateral ligament extends from the medial epicondyle of the humerus to the coronoid process and olecranon of the ulna.

Q

What is the Cubital Fossa?

A

The cubital fossa, also known as the elbow pit or antecubital fossa, is a triangular-shaped depression or hollow at the anterior (front) aspect of the elbow. It is located on the anterior surface of the forearm, just below the elbow joint.

Brachial Artery:The main blood vessel supplying the arm.
Median Nerve: A major nerve of the forearm and hand.
Biceps Brachii Tendon:
Radial Nerve:
Deep Veins:
