Elbow Flashcards
4 physes close to the elbow
- Distal humeral
- Physis of the medial humeral epicondyle (appears caudally on ML)
- Proximal radial
- Ulnar apophysis
What origonates at the medial humeral epicondyle
Humeral head of the DDFT
What injury can cause this radiographic appearance?
Avulsion of the humeral head of the DDF
Olecranon fracture types
1a - apophyseal transverse
1b - extends from the caudal aspect of the olecranon physis cranially for a variable distance before breaking into the metaphysis of the olecranon to either exit into the articular surface of the olecranon or the cranial metaphyseal cortex of the olecranon. Can be comminution of the anconeal process
2 - horizontal (transverse) articular
3 - horizontal (transverse) nonarticular nonphyseal affecting the midbody
4 - comminuted articular
5 - originate from the caudal cortex of the distal olecranon/proximal ulna and extend into the synovial cavity at the level of the distal aspect of the trochlear notch. They enter the synovial cavity but do not disrupt the articular surface
