Elbow Flashcards
What are the three elbow joints?
Humeralulnar - hinge
Humeralradial - hinge
Proximal ridoulnar - pivot
What are the 5 ligaments in the elbow
Radial collateral
Ulnar collateral
Annular lig
Interosseous memebrane
What’s the role of radial and ulna ligament?
Provides stability against Varys forces and valgus
What is the attachment points of the lateral radial collateral ligament?
- Lateral epicondyle of humerus
- blends with annular ligament
What is the attachment points of lateral ulnar collateral ligament?
- lateral epicondyle of humerus
- supinator creat ulnar
What is the attachment points of the annular ligament?
-Anterior to posterior of radial notch of ulna
What is the attachment points of anterior oblique ligament?
- Medial epicondyle of humerus
- to coronoid process of ulna
What is the attachment points of the posterior oblique ligament?
- medial epicondyle of humerus
- to olecranon of ulna
What is the attachment points of the transverse ligament?
- the coronoid process to the top of the olecranon
What is the annular ligament?
- flexible enables pronation and supernation
- attached to anterior and posterior radial notch of ulnar
- support the head of radius to prevent inferior movements or the radius
What is the elbow joint capsule?
- elbow and radioilnar shake joint capsule
- strengthen medially and laterally by ligaments
- weaker anterior and posterior
- brachialis inserts anterior of the capsule to pull it out of joint space to prevent pinching when flexion occurs
- triceps attaches posterior to prevents pinching in extension
What is the anterior joint capsule attachment points?
Medial epic
