Eight life processes Flashcards
MRS C GREN
Movement, respiration, sensitivity, control, growth, reproduction, excretion, nutrition.
Movement
due to the action of muscles in animals + slow growth movement in plants.
Respiration
the release of energy from food e.g glucose
Sensitivity
responding to stimuli (changes in the internal + external environment) e.g detecting hot objects on the skin
Control
maintaining the internal environment in an organism e.g temperature, blood glucose concentration and water concentration
Growth
increase in size and complexity using food e.g increase number of cells
Reproduction
producing offspring
Excretion
removal of waste products from metabolic processes e.g carbon dioxide
Nutrition
organising eating other organisms e.g animals eating other organisms + plants making glucose by photosynthesis
