What are battery eggs?
Most eggs in the uk are of this type. Hens are kept in small cages, inside large sheds. The cages will be stacked on top of one another. The eggs are collected from a conveyor belt. The hen lives its life in the cage.
What are barn eggs?
The hens live in large sheds. They move around and scratch the ground. They have perches to sleep on at night.
What are free range eggs?
Hens move around outside. They lay their eggs in nests and perch at night. They scratch around in the soil for food.

Yolk and white

Yolk
What vitamins are found in eggs and where are they located?
A, D, & E yolk, as well as B2 and B12 yolk and white
What minerals are found in eggs and where are they located?
Phosphorus, iron (yolk), zinc and selenium

White, medium sized crystals
What is caster sugar?
White, smaller sized crystals used in baking which dissolves quite quickly
What is icing sugar?
White, fine powder, used in cake decoration for icing
What is preserving sugar?
Large crystals, dissolve slowly - jams, marmalade
What is cube sugar?
Made from granulated sugar
What is soft brown sugar?
Fine grains, used in baking, chutney, cereals
What is Demerara sugar?
Large brown crystals, mainly used to sweeten coffee
