1
Q

A

cellular respiration is only 41% eficient
Basal metabolic rate: energy needed just to survive

Q

creatine phosphate

A
  • excess ATP phosphorylates creatine –> creatine phosphate + ADp
  • stored in muscle cells
  • important for rapid changes in required atp

Q

Glycogen

A
  • glycogen (carb) is hydrolyzed (glycogeneolysis) and phosphorylated into glucose-1-phosphate
    –> rearranged glucose-1-phosphate into glucose-6-phosphate

Q

fats

A

fats hydrolyze into glycerol + fatty acids

  • glycerol: enters glycolysis by becoming DHAP in liver
-fatty acids: beta oxidation and enter kreb’s cycle

ketosis

Q

Protiens

A

hydrolyzed into amino acids
- converted to pyruvate, acetyl, other substances in kreb’s cycle

de novo gluconeogenisis
- low carb diets: body breaks down protien–> muslce wastes away quicker than fat
- faster to burn protiens then fats
