*inflamm of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses
ACUTE: 1-4 weeks
SUBACUTE: 4-12 weeks
CHRONIC: > 12 weeks
ETIOLOGIES
- viral–>MCC is viral–>rhinovirus, influenza, parainfluenza
- bacterial–>same assoc with AOM–>strep pneumoniae MCC
RF–>MCC in setting of a viral URI
DX TOC is CT if imaging needed
TX
- symptomatic—decongestants, analgeiscs, antihistamines,
- ABX inds= s/s >10-14 days with worsening or s/s or earlier if severe
- ->Augmentin 1st line
- ->doxycycline 2nd
