Argues that there has been a new labour paradox as there was a contradiction between labours policies to tackle inequality and there commitment to marketisation which kept inequalities in place.
Stephen Ball- globalisation
Argues that universities have increasingly marketed themselves to a global audience, often setting up overseas branches. Also argues that there is now more involvement by private companies in education and that these companies are often multinational and operate across many different countries. To Ball, national companies now have less control over education in the past.
Anthony Kelly- Globalisation
Anthony Kelly argues that national governments feel increasingly obliged to tailor educational policy to meet the needs of the global economy.

Sharon Gerwtiz went a step further to argue that these policies were not aimed at improving equalities but was instead an attempt to eradicate working class culture by transforming working class parents into middle class parents
