White and Indian households are four times as likely to be in the top 40% of income earners compared to Pakistani and Bangladeshi household.
However, there is significant evidence that material deprivation does not correlate to underachievement of ethnic minorities as Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Chinese pupils are all poorer than white pupils but achieve better results.
