Education and Training Flashcards
Health Belief Model
Starts with the nature of beliefs in a target group regarding how serious a disease/health problem is and how likely they are to get the disease.
Interventions try to narrow any gap between actual seriousness and the beliefs that exist and a gap between actual susceptibility or risk and existing beliefs about this. Done through education and communication methods and materials.
Social Cognitive Theory
built around the interaction of the person (their knowledge, temperament, internal motives, skills), their behavior, and the environment.
Addresses person’s motivations, knowledge gaps, attitudes, skills in an environment supportive of change.
Transtheoretical Model/Stage Theory
Principal concept is readiness.
Provides teacher will concepts to tailor intervention approaches to the readiness related learning needs of various subgroups of the workforce.
Positive deviance
based on the observation that in any community there exists individuals who have found uncommon practices and behaviors that enable them to achieve better results than their peers.
Four steps: define, determine, discover, design.
Community must own the entire process.
