MGIB Kicker-FY Incentives
-FY Incentives determine specific incentives for enlistment incentive
Tuition amount paid to member
- Entitlement helps Airman pay for college while serving on active duty or after they separate or retire
- After 2 yrs of service, the fund may be used on a partial-payment basis while on active duty
- -Three years of service is required to receive full benefits
“Top Up”
-Use the GI Bill in conjunction with the Tuition Assistance Program if classes cost more than TA will pay
Tuition amount paid to institution
-It was enacted to provide an alternative to the Montgomery GI Bill. If an airman chose the MGIB, they can transfer to the Post 9/11 later in their career
No time limit for usage
-Once benefit is earned, it’s good for life!
Can be transferred to dependents
-As long as the member meets the retention requirements and transfers the benefit at the appropriate time, benefits can be transferred to dependents
Housing Allowance
- You may be entitled to receive a monthly housing allowance equal to the BAH amount payable to a E-5 with dependents in the same zip code as your school
- -This money is paid to you and averages about $1200 a month
Book stipend
-You may be entitled to receive a yearly books & supplies stipend of up to $1000
