ecosystems pack 5 Flashcards
biosphere
beginning a community that changes over time
what are within the biosphere
numerous different ecosystems
ecosystem
a community of living organisms and their physical environment in an area which is self-sustaining
habitat
the environment with a distinct set of conditions where a species of a group of species live
community
populations of living things interacting with each other in a habitat or ecosystem
population
a group of interbreeding organisms of the same species living together in the same area at the same time
abiotic
non- living / physical factors of the same environment
biotic
loving factors of the environment
how can an ecosystem be identified
a functional unit that tends to be self sustaining
abiotic factors
- solar energy input
- rainfall
- temperature
- water oxygen content
- wind speed
- soil (pH, moisture)
biotic factors
- inferspecific competition
- intraspecific competition
- predation
- tramping
what are anthropogenic factors
the abiotic / biotic factors arising from human activity
niche
the role that an organism plays in a habitat, if the individuals/ species share the same niche they will compete until one out competes the other
if two different species live in the same habitat and have the same role in the habitat they are said to share
an ecological niche
what will happen if two species are adapted to the same niche
they compete with eachother
