Ecosystems Flashcards
Environment
All the biotic and abiotic factors that surround an organism
Ecosystems
An area of which living and non-living things interact
Community
Organisms that live together in an ecosystem
Population
A population contains all the organisms of the same kind of community
Species
Organisms of the same species have the same general physical characteristics and other adaptions
Adaptation
Adaptation helps the animal to survive and reproduce in it’s enviornment
Niche
A niche is like a job for a animal
Organism
The same type of animal
Biome
Large geographic areas with similar climates and ecosystems
Tiaga
The tiara is the largest biome on earth. This region typically has long, cold winters and short, mild, wet summers
Grasslands
The weather in grasslands varies greatly. It is cold in the winter and hot in the summer. The most important plant in this biome is grass. This biome is also known a the Prairie
Deciduous forest
This biome can be found in 6 countries and has 4 main seasons also known as summer, fall (Autumn), winter, and spring. The animals must be able to survive the changing seasons

Desert
The desert covers about 1/5 of the earth. Antarctica is the largest desert in the world. Desert are both hot and cold with very little rainfall.
Tundra
The tundra biome 1/5 of this earth as well as the desert. It is the coldest biome in the world with temperatures of -50F. Animals have to adapt to extremely cold conditions
