Q

How does GPS SPOOFING OCCUR?

A

It requires a spoofing station which will send a false location transmission to GNSS receivers in the affected area.

Q

After GPS JAMMING or SPOOFING, what will happen with the ADS-B system?

Q

What are the typical effects with GPS JAMMING or SPOOFING?

A
  • GNSS position data lost
  • Increasing ANP, and then ‘UNABLE REQD NAV PERF - RNP)
  • False GPWS Look-Ahead Terrain Warnings and PULL UP messages on the PFD.
  • Terrain display on ND and VSD may be inaccurate.
  • Inability to log on to CPDLC due to faulty timestamp. In case of SPOOFING, we get the message “ATC COMM TERMINATED”
  • Loss of time source (spamming or spoofing)
  • Wrong time and or data info (only caused by spoofing)
  • Map shift.

9
Q

Can we continue a RNP and RNP-AR approach when we experiencing GNSS interference after commencing an approach?

A

An RNP approach can be continued (as long as the ANP does not exceed the RNP), an RNP-AR approach shall in any case be aborted unless you are visual with the terrain.

16
Q

What will you do when an intercepting aircraft showed you the airport where he wants you to land?

A

Lower the landing gear as well, steady landing lights and then land.

17
Q

How will you make it clear to the intercepting aircraft that the airport he choose for you to land is not adequate?

A

When flying over the runway, raising your landing gear between 1000 ft and 2000 ft and flashing landing lights. Then continue circling over the runway.

18
Q

What do you want to tell the intercepting aircraft by switching on and off all available light in a REGULAR way?

A

Cannot comply.

19
Q

What do you want to tell the intercepting aircraft by switching on and off all available light in a IRREGULAR way?

A

That you are in distress.

20
Q

When should we select GPS update OFF in the FMC?

A

When EXPECTING GNSS SPOOFING or EXPERIENCING GNSS JAMMING.

21
Q

When should we select or verify DME update ON in the NAV OPTIONS page?

A

When experiencing OR operating (so not yet experiencing) in areas of known GNSS interference.

22
Q

When using the POS button on the EFIS panel, which symbol is the GPS position and which the ADIRU position?

A

The “Darth Vader” symbol is the GPS position and the “Star” is the ADIRU position.
