Complications of Eating Disorders?

A

CVS: Low BP, Low HR, long QT

Endocrine: Amenorrhoea

Skin: Layer of fine hair

GI: Caries, Ulceration, Mallory-Weiss Tears, Delayed Emptying, Obstruction

MSK: Aches/Pains, decreased muscle mass

Electrolyte disturbances

If you start eating “normally” again with carbohydrates then there is a drop of insulin and K+, phosphate is driven into cells.
This can cause arrhythmias etc
