- Pathological fear of gaining weight or becoming fat

- Eating or feeding disturbances (lack of interest, sensory characteristics)
- Not meeting appropriate nutritional needs
- 1 or more following symptoms
- Significant weight loss

- Dependence on enteral feeding or supplements
- Interference with psychosocial functioning

- Inappropriate to the developmental level of the person
- Can happen with some mental disorders or medical conditions
