Communism
A political and economic ideology where the means of production are owned and controlled by the community as a whole.
Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
A buffer zone between two opposing countries or territories.
Stalemate
a situation in which neither side in a conflict can make progress or gain an advantage.
Totalitarianism
A form of government where authority is centralized and unlimited, and the state controls all aspects of public and private life.
Capitalists
people who support or advocate for an economic system based on private ownership and the pursuit of profit.
Korean War
The conflict that took place from 1950 to 1953 between North Korea (supported by China and the Soviet Union) and South Korea (supported by the United States and other countries).
Democratic
A form of government in which power is vested in the people, who rule either directly or through elected representatives.
Propaganda
Information, often biased or misleading, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.
Regime
A government or a system of governing a country, often used to describe an authoritarian or oppressive government.
Legislature
The branch of government responsible for making laws.
Cold War
A period of political tension and military rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union, lasting from the late 1940s to the early 1990s.
Soviet Union
The Soviet Union was a communist country that existed from 1922 to 1991. Known for its strong centralized government and planned economy.
Centralized
A system or organization where power and decision-making are concentrated in a central authority.
Armistice
an agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting and establish a temporary peace.
Denuclearization
refers to the process of removing or eliminating nuclear weapons or nuclear capabilities from a country or region.
