how do you test for hearing acuity? what should be response for newborn? 3-4 months? 6-8 months? preschool and school age?
- hand clap
- startle (acoustic blink) and moro reflex
- acoustic blink and appears to listen
- turns to localize sound and responds to own name
- screen with audiometry
hearing loss behavioral manefestations?
- inattentive in casual conversation
- reacts more to movement and facial expression than sound
- get puzzled look on their face
- asks for statments repeated
- confuses words that sound alike
