Early Cycle Flashcards
What are causes of an early cycle
It could be caused by not enough yin or not enough Yang
How is an early cycle defined
It’s defined as a period that comes sooner than 27 days after the last period
Early cycles typically have two causes what are they
Either excess or deficiency
If someone has an early period It’s really helpful to pay attention to what and why?
It’s helpful to pay attention to the blood, general health, tongue and pulse.
Why? Because this early bleed is a manifestation of an entire body pathogen
Heat in the blood
We know there is heat in the blood when…
- Early onset
- Sudden, profuse, heavy flow
- Red( no purple or clotting)
- Accompanied by other syndrome patterns. It’s unlikely to have an early onset. But no other symptoms
How do we see heat in the blood?
Rapid pulse, red tongue, dry skin, rash
An early onset period is caused by either….
Heat which is an excess or
Qi deficiency
Heat in the blood can come from… Name five
- Excess internal heat( anxity, infection)
- Yin xu with yang excess( false heat)
- Overconsumption of warm or pungent foods
- Overuse of warming herbs acting on uterus
- Liver Qi stagnation transformed into fire
What points would use for heat in the blood for early onset period
LI 11 Sp10 these points clear heat Ren3 this point cools blood Kd 5 Ht5 Sp1 PC 3 these points regulate chong and Ren Lv2 (LV Qi stag= fire) KD 2 ( yinxu) these last two points are depending on the cause of the heat
If early on set period Is caused by Qi XU why is that?
it is because it is unable to lift Yang and control blood
Meses with Qi xu Will be what consistency
Thin, light, watery
brown spotting almost immediately after ovulation.
Brown = old blood= Qi sinking.. you need to lift Qi and yang
Sp Qi dominates
Production of Qi and contains blood within the vessels
Qi xu leads to a disruption of what..
It leads to a disruption of blood flow within the Chong and Ren since Qi controls blood
General spleen Qi deficiency symptoms are
Fatigue, breathlessness, heaviness, loose stools
