A
Runing fork on calvarium directly causes bone to vibrate
Conducted to cochlea by bone; perceived as sound by patient
Tests function of the inner ear

What are the boundaries of the middle ear?
A
Roof - tegmen tympani; thing plate of petrous part of temporal bone
Lateral - tympanic membrane
Anterior - opening of auditory tube
Floor - Jugular foramen

What is otitis media?
A
Middle ear infection
Spread of infection from repiratory system can damage auditory ossicles
Treatment - tympanostomy; tube through tympanic membrane
