What are the types of referrals are offered?

A

Self - 5 sessions a year employee, spouse, dependents each

Informal - Work performance isn’t directly affected, supervisor likely aware of some problems, gently reminds the employee of EAP

Supervisory - Work performance is an issue, intended as a corrective action and not discipline.

Management - poor job performance

Critical Incident - debriefing session, 8-72 hours post incident

Can an employee be forced to go to counseling?

A

No, only exception is Critical incident debriefing. The first time is mandatory, follow up is up to the employee.

A

Yes, but the supervisor portion is done at the point of mentioning EAP
