Eagle 2 Flashcards
Eagle 2 What is it?
Monitors one to six gases simultaneously. Standard configuration includes 4 sensors for- Combustible gas(LEL,PPM,VOL),Oxygen, Carbon monoxide, Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
operating modes
Normal mode- Typical for confined spacer or area monitoring.
Bar hole mode- checking for underground gas leaks
Leak check mode- Locates leaks in piping
Meter alarms
CH4(MEthane) O2 H2S CO
10-50% 19.5-23.5% 5-30PPM 10-35PPM
LEL sensor
Catalytic combustible gas sensor uses a catalytic element for detection
Oxygen sensor
Galvanic type of sensor, gas diffuses into sensor, oxygen reacts and produces a current
CO and H2S sensors
Electrochemical sensors that allows gas to permeate membrane and diffuse into the electrolyte. gas reacts and produces a current
Obscure stuff
Diaphragm pump can draw sample up to 125ft
Charcoal filter
contains activated charcoal. CO sensor will respond if exposed to H2S and certain hydrocarbon gases. Charcoal filter scrubs these gases out
3 operational modes in normal mode
Measuring, display and calibration
What happens when failed sensor
Gas reading for failed sensor will be replaced by XXX
Obscure stuff
Before using Eagle 2 set fresh air readings. Hold down air button to perform a demand zero
Obscure stuff
Wait 10-15 seconds to observe display for gas readings
Obscure stuff
Catalytic gas sensor will respond to any combustible gas. it will shut off when exposed to high levels of combustible gas 100%UEL
button stuff
To switch between %LEL,PPM and %VOL use range (down) shift button.
LEL for methane
5% vol or 50,000 PPM
