Cautions of E-stim:

1. Patients with serious cardiac diseases/pacemaker
2. Avoid placing electrodes near the heart, as the heart can respond adversely to electrical impulses; the path between any two electrodes should not cross the heart area
3. Avoid placing electrodes on both sides of the spinal cord (e.g. UB points) because of the possible effect of the stimulus on the nervous system
4. Only low frequency/amplitude with hypertensive clients
