Management for uninvestigated

A

PPI 4 weeks

Test for H Pylori

Offer H2 receptor antagonist if PPI didnt work

Management for functional

A

Life style

Test for H pylori and treat (before testing for H pylori, wait for 2 weeks to allow washout period for PPI

If no H pylori, treat with PPI or H2 receptor antagonist

What is the treatment follow up for uninvestigated and functional?

A

If symptoms persist following initial management then offer PPI/H2 receptor antagonist - use lowest dose PRN

What shall we do if NSAIDs cannot be stopped

A
  • use lowest dose
  • in uninvestigated dyspepsia taking aspirin, consider alternative antiplatelet drug as aspirin is an NSAID - choose another antiplatelet drug
