What are the opening duties of a hostess? (CCROS)
A
- Check service staff schedule (get assignments from manager and copy station/table chart to post in service station)
- Check-in service staff upon arrival (checkmark by employee’s name to indicate they are ready for seating…manager must confirm)
- Review reservations for the day (confirm special arrangements and plan ahead if there is a large party (8+))
- complete duties on hostess opening checklist and any other side tasks given by the manager
- set up host station and ensure menus are clean

A
Notify the manager.

What if a guest is requesting directional or specific information?
A
Use the reception information binder as it includes maps of the area, hotel listings, key phone numbers that may be requested, and written directions to RCSH

What are the ongoing duties of a hostess? (RMRAH)
A
- remain at host desk especially if no one else is present, close stations when directed by manager
- maintain quality by cleaning menus and putting damaged ones to the side, cleaning the lobby when dirty, and checking restrooms every half hour
- restock as necessary
- assist management as directed including turning over lost + found items to them
- help other employees and direct service assistants regarding table resetting priorities

A
- treat them like a guest
- be aware of scheduled interviews
- know interviewing hours and direct applicants to waiting areas
- job applications are only issued by the manager and are completed inside the restaurant

What are the closing duties of a hostess?
A
- close stations (only when told by a manager) and inform the server when told to close their station
- close host area (clean & restock) when told by manager and have manager check it before leaving
