What is a dupuytrens contracture?
Nodule formatimation and contracture of the palmar fascia characterized by hyperplasia of the plantar fascia and related structures
What patient population is typically affected by this type of contracture?
white men over 50 years of age
It is commonly seen in what other types of patients?
During pregnancy and in patients with diabetes mellitus or RA
What fingers are the most commonly affected?
4th and 5th
What are the symptoms of this type of contracture?
tightness of the involved digits, with an inability to satisfactorily extend the fingers, and on occasion there is tenderness
How is a rapidly growing palmar nodule treated?
With injections of triamcinolone or collagenase
