What is it ?
What is it secondary to?
The stomach empties too quickly after eating and the client experiences many
uncomfortable to severe side effects… usually secondary to
gastric bypass,
gastrectomy, or
gall bladder disease.
6 S\S
- Fullness
- Faintness
- Weakness
- Cramping
- Diarrhea
- Palpitations
5 Tx
a. Semirecumbent with meals
other words we want them to lay back when they eat meals to keep food in this in their
stomach
b. Lie down after meals
c. No __fluid with meals (drink in between meals)
d. Meals should be small and frequent rather than large
e. Avoid foods high in ________carbs_ and electrolytes
Carbs and electrolytes empty fast.
Lay on _____ side to keep food in the stomach.
Left side lying = _____?
Right side lying = _____?
Lay on left side to keep food in the stomach.
Left side lying = Leaves it in
Right side lying = Releases it
