What is a drug?
Any chemical substance which, when taken into the body, alters it’s function. This change can be physical or psychological.
What are the examples of obtaining legal drugs?
Over the counter medicines e.g cold and flu or panadol.
Prescription drugs e.g antibiotics or sedatives or antidepressants.
Social drugs e.g tobacco and alcohol.
Ingredients in foods e.g caffeine in tea and coffee
Give an example of how legal drugs can still be dangerous?
Alcohol impairs your judgment while driving or operating machinery so you can have an accident. It also damages you liver in excessive quantities.
Tobacco causes lung cancer.
Petrol and glue cause damage to your brain if sniffed.
